Week-by-Week Breakdown

Week 1 – Foundation Skills & Engagement

  • Warm-up: Focus games (recall, hand touch, settle on lead).

  • Introduction to equipment: Low jump bars on the ground, short tunnel.

  • Owner handling basics: How to cue with body language & reward placement.

  • End-of-class: Mini 2-obstacle sequence (jump + tunnel).

Week 2 – Jumps & Tunnels Confidence

  • Warm-up: Recalls between owners, impulse control (“wait” at start line).

  • Practice: Jump technique (one jump, then two in a row).

  • Tunnel progression: Adding length, working on sends and recalls through.

  • End-of-class: Short sequence (jump + tunnel + jump).

Week 3 – Introduction to Weaves (2–4 poles)

  • Warm-up: Obedience check-in, focus games.

  • Weave basics: 2-pole entries, shaping entries with lures.

  • Jumps + tunnel sequence practice.

  • End-of-class: Build a short 3–4 obstacle course (jump–tunnel–jump–weaves attempt).

Week 4 – Building Handling Skills

  • Warm-up: Directional cues (left/right turns).

  • Handling: Front cross, basic lead changes.

  • Equipment: Extend weave poles (up to 4–6), refine jump sequences.

  • End-of-class: Run a small 4-obstacle sequence (mix of jumps, tunnel, weaves).

Week 5 – Mini Course & Graduation Run

  • Warm-up: Quick focus drill.

  • Practice: Combine skills — sequencing 4–5 obstacles.

  • Owners practice course walking.

  • Graduation: Each team runs a mini-course (tunnel, jumps, weaves in sequence).

  • End: Celebration & certificates for completion. 🎉
